I need some help with the phrase "el dinero administrado haría lo suyo / redondería su agosto." I have no idea if this is an Argentine saying or expression, nor am I sure if "agosto" is an error, but I can´t make head or tail of the meaning of this phrase. Any help would be appreciated.

Hi Taña. My tongue-in-cheek suggestion was more to 'get the ball rolling'. But there are some good ideas in the discussion entries, pre-eminently yours and that of lorenab23.

I think you will find that 'dough' meaning money definitely or - as now spelt in the UK, definately - will be understood by a US audience.

The dinero administrado could also refer back to the '...estructuras de ingeniería financiera...' so mean: 'the money handled (in the tax planning schemes) would disappear into own channels and someone else will capitalise on the bonanza some sunny day'.

The writer appears to be ambiguously mealy-mouthed about tax dodging. But perhaps our esteemed Argentinian/Lat. Am colleagues could untangle this literary 'masterpiece'.

Asker: Thanks Adrian. Interesting ideas. In fact, I just consulted a translator friend, thinking that the phrase may be typically Argentine, and she mentioned "making hay while the sun shines" as well, which is a nice thought and I would like to try to incorporate that phrase into my translation, but I am not sure if the register would be appropriate for a legal case (or whether it would be more appropriate to use something like to "take advantage of the opportunity". Still thinking how to run it all together coherently and prettily. Thanks again.

If this is British, I can't use this as it is a US audience who would never understand. Any reference to the BBC sitcom cannot work either. Thanks again.
