EF

French to English Medical Medical (general) medical report (Switzerland)
Accouchement par voie basse (provoqué en raison d'un EF maternel)

Discussion

Anne Schulz Jun 16, 2015:
Medically speaking, état fébrile does make sense: If the mother/woman in labour develops a fever, there is a risk for the child/fetus, because i) this fever may be caused by ascent of bacteria into the amniotic cavity, ii) any viruses or bacteria causing maternal fever may be transmitted to the fetus in the womb, or iii) the febrile maternal organism may not be able to sustain the fetus adequately. Similarly, a cough accompanied by an elevated temperature may be a sign of pneumonia or worse, while an afebrile cough can be attributed to the mother's asthma without worries.
Drmanu49 Jun 16, 2015:
Possible Bertrand mais c'est vague pour l'accouchement ; état fébrile maternel ne me semble pas correct, on aurait dit état fébrile seul. Et toux sans état fébrile c'est quasiment normal surtout quand on le lie à l'asthme.
Bertrand Leduc (asker) Jun 16, 2015:
I think EF = État Fébrile
Drmanu49 Jun 16, 2015:
Je pense à l'oedème facial mais celà pourrait aussi être "effort" pour la toux non provoquée par l'effort.
Bertrand Leduc (asker) Jun 16, 2015:
More context found later on épisode de toux sans EF traité par ventolin et pulmicort

There are Swiss French references that seem to use EF in the sense of fever/elevated temperature:
