I have a better understanding of the sense now: it's emphasising that 18th-century inventors borrowed terms and concepts from the nascent study of economics. I think 'mécanismes de redistribution' may be mechanisms for the redistribution of wealth. I'm not sure what the 'modèle du circuit' is, but I would guess it's a model used in this concept. So 'y compris par le recours au tableau' could be 'including use of diagrams'. No further clues than that in the surrounding text I'm afraid...

Diagrams Would be my guess. But do the sentences before and after it provide any clue? And what are "redistribution systems using the ciruit model"?

@Charlotte Allen: Yes, I tried the plural in English to try to get more sense out of it as I couldn't see why the use of one chart/table or blackboard would be something worth noting here... Thanks a lot!

It might mean blackboard... or it might mean 'table' (similar to chart). But as it's used in the singular - recours AU tableau - I'm wondering if it means the humble blackboard (or chalkboard, if you prefer). It's hard to know what your text is getting at, and I will freely admit that I know very little about economics, and even less about the 18th century.
