In any case, "Interc" remains mysterious to me. I honestly don't believe it's got anything to do with interceder/intercesión.

I didn't mean to sound critical! I don't think this is a "no brainer".

"Acute vascular encephalopathy" is by no means a common term. I admit I'd never met it before. It seems to be a paediatric condition. Could I ask, firstly, whether this is definitely the condition this patient is suffering from? Is it a paediatric patient?

If that definitely is the condition, then AVE does probably stand for that here, I imagine. It doesn't seem very likely that a patient with this condition would have had a stroke, but I really don't know.

For the record, I am unable to find "AVE" = acute vascular encephalopathy on any bona fide English site.

@mdomseattle If you'll pardon me for saying so, I think it may be a little premature to signal the first answer posted as "the most helpful".

First, OBS. is more likely to be "observation" than "observed", it seems to me.
Second, "acute vascular encephalopathy" takes its lead from the context you have given, but of course AVE with this meaning is an English acronym. That doesn't mean that it couldn't appear in a Spanish document — Spanish medical documents use many English acronyms — but since AVE is a common Spanish acronym with the meaning Liz has given, it seems a little surprising that they would use it here with a different meaning.
Third, I see no good reason to think that "Interc" means "interceded". I'm not sure at the moment what it does mean, but that doesn't seem likely.

Thanks David. It was not obvious because I thought "ave" was an abbreviation similar to "obs.", a shortened word, not an acronym.

Misgive all you want. Medical reports, especially in Spanish, commonly use both Latin and English words, acronyms, and abbreviations.
