I don't have much more information as this is a short news snippet but these technicians seem to work for some sort of technical equipment company

agree  MoiraB: having just done a translation full of 'intervention' and 'intervenant' (two guys were cleaning filters), it's clear here that 'intervention' is simply the job they were called in to do, so 'start of work' covers the phrase adequately.
