This is a table in an ammunition inspection report.
First they inspect the rounds, then, packing and marking, and then links
Context (all I have):
LINKS INSPECTION
Broken, cracked or inverted link
Link badly placed on groove of case
Missing or faulty marking
It would be groovy to know what does the entire phrase means. If I were sure what "link" means, I'd probably figure the meaning of both "groove" and "case" in the context of "link". But I have no clue as to "link"

Не могу пока найти этому подтверждение в англоязычных источниках, но у меня складывается полное ощущение, что это закраина:

groove on case = extracting groove - проточка (или выточка), которую цепляет экстрактор для выбрасывания гильзы

А вот link - это, по-моему, закраина, то, что "ниже" проточки, на ней, опять же, и маркировка располагается.
И всё остальное подходит, единственное, что смущает - "inverted link", не представляю, как она может быть перевернутой.

Да, Вы правы, стоило погуглить "ammo link" вместо round link, shell link - и сразу становится очевидно.

| Much as I hated it, I asked the client (indirectly) and they explained (in Italian!!) that it "refers to the linked cartriges, that is, that they are linked by a tape/strip,band". Then it should be (пулеметная) лента... или что? The problem is that I already have "clip" there as well as "cartridge box". So, обойма и магазин are already spoken for... Any new ideas about "link"? |
