Christi Bishop Vergez Dec 5, 2014: Head or Commander of ground operations I would tend to agree with Duncan (not to mention my 4 years of active duty in the US Army). As an alternative to ground operations, you could also use ground troops or ground forces.

Duncan Moncrieff Dec 5, 2014: Would something along the lines of "leader, ground operations" make any sense? As a captain he's would have had a command role at some level or another, but at which in this operation?
