English term

Apple catchers

English to Spanish Other General / Conversation / Greetings / Letters
"Remember to bring lots of apple catchers with you when you go into labour"

This is part of a humorous leaflet for pregnant women in the UK and I need to try and get the same tone across for Spanish women.

Discussion

Christine Walsh Aug 21, 2014:
The Argentinian word is 'bombachas', and can refer either to knickers (ample, usually) or long bloomer-type trousers worn by gauchos and such. Just for fun, NOT what the asker needs http://articulo.mercadolibre.com.ar/MLA-515394127-bombacha-c...
Magdalena Balibrea Vich Aug 21, 2014:
Pero los bombachos son pantalones, no bragas.

Mirad el comentario de Charles.
Beatriz Ramírez de Haro Aug 21, 2014:
Bombachos se utiliza habitualmente en España.
translatorwo (X) (asker) Aug 21, 2014:
But isn't 'bombachos' Argentinian? This is for Spain.

bragas de abuela

De acuerdo con lo que dice Charles.
Note from asker:

Thanks!
agree Charles Davis : ¡Perfecto!

agree Christine Walsh : And it's just the kind of term that varies so widely from one place to another, too

Thanks, Christine! This, as you might say, is outside my comfort zone :)
