further mandate Explanation: Yeah, a good question ... 'the shareholders showed continued confidence by electing the board chair to a further mandate ... But as you say they didn't vote 'continued confidence'. mandate works with other words, too - continued, or additional for example. This reference is european, but do you Brits like that word?
