German term or phrase: Gabelmaß
All,

I am translating a drawing of a component in the fire fighting system of a landing craft.
The component is the cylinder body of a CO2 cylinder with an overall length of 540 mm.
One entry in the title block is “Gabelmaß 515 + 5”.
I am not sure what that means. The only thing I can think of is “fork spread” for transport of the cylinders by forklift.

Who can confirm my theory or come up with something else?

disagree  Michele Gile: THere are tree caliper (Gabelmass) but since he is talking abo ttechnical test, I dont think they will be measureing tree diameters
