French term

base tiers

XXXX and YYYY are programs.

Explanation:

Discussion

Robin Hardy-King (asker) Nov 27, 2013:
yes, it looks as though my own idea of third-party database was right. At the time I couldn't see why it was third party, but it seems to be within the company but other departments.

What Is Master Data?

Master Data is non-transactional data that is key to the business of your organization.

There are three main domains to be considered for Master Data Management: ***Party***, Location and Object.

Tony, I hear what you're saying, but I have the feeling that tiers doesn't translate exactly as "third-party"in this context. For example: "party: 4. a particular individual : person <an old party approaching 80>"

Peer comment(s):

agree Tony M : You've convinced me; I can see why the idea of a third party might be better rendered in FR by using the 'third' bit, while the 'party' bit is used in the EN. Congratulations on your knowledge and research!

It appears to be a specific database management term, without "third". Example: 'Provided-by' is meaningful in particular cases when the creator of a location object wants to designate a particular system or party within a complex administration.

Definition of "party data":
http://www.dataqualityfirst.com/party_data_definition.htm
Customer or "party" data is the information stored in databases and managed by business applications that describe the individuals, groups of people and legal entities you do business with. Party data includes the facts that characterize a single party, the keys that link different sets of facts that describe the same party in the real world and the relationships between parties and business accounts. Parties are often referred to by the type of relationship they have to a business account, such as "owner" of a financial account, "subscriber" to a telecommunication service or "member" of a healthcare plan.
