Therefore, 'educational support profile (of a school)', or '(a school's) educational support profile' seem to make sense. Does anyone here have any experience with this rather new term?

I’m not really sure if you are the person to ask, but I have a question about the Dutch term 'schoolondersteuningsprofiel'. I am currently translating a text (from Dutch into English) that contains the term 'schoolondersteuningsprofiel' and there seems to be some confusion about its translation into English, as well as its meaning in Dutch.

My question is whether a schoolondersteuningsprofiel encompasses all forms of educational support a school is able to offer, or only special educational support.

That is, is the schoolondersteuningsprofiel meant to list:
• basisondersteuning plus extra ondersteuning, or just
• extra ondersteuning?

I currently tend to favour translating 'schoolondersteuningsprofiel' as 'educational support profile'. However, if it is actually only meant to list 'extra ondersteuning', then something like 'special educational needs support services profile' (or special educational needs support profile) might be better.

You see contrary evidence where I don't see it.
And you create the impression that you only and selectively want to see contrary evidence where it doesn't exist rather than being willing to consider crystal-clear information.

I don't feel offended, it just that such 'responses' are disappointing, because they get across as no 'response' and make me feel incompetent, and I get fed up with them and feel that I should not waste my time while so many other things need to be paid attention to.

Michael, ik heb geen zin om in een nietes-welles discussie te belanden.
Ik merk gewoon dat je mijn hulp niet wil aanvaarden, bekijk het verder maar.

Voor mij is de situatie duidelijk.
Ik heb aangegeven hoe de situatie zit.
Verdere verduidelijking is niet nodig.

Als jij een verkeerde of onvolledige vertaling wilt, jammer, maar ik kan hier verder niet van nut zijn.

Ik kan alleen nog maar herhalen, kijk wat er staat in mijn discussion entries: Passend onderwijs en Passend onderwijs en ondersteuningsprofiel en in de uitgebreide referentie.

Als je denkt dat ik iets probeer te winnen of zo, dan heb je het helemaal mis.
Ik verwacht alleen, wat me slechts natuurlijk lijkt, dat iemand informatie kan verwerken en in de juiste context kan plaatsen.

Echt zo'n reactie als deze had ik totaal niet verwacht deze keer.

Het is genoeg geweest. Je zult van mij geen 'last' meer hebben in de toekomst.

• samenwerkingsverband (in het kader van 'Weer Samen Naar School, WSNS') = consortium (of mainstream primary and special schools)

• medezeggenschapsraad = participation council / co-administration council (medezeggenschapsraad)

Def. of 'medezeggenschapsraad': By law, every school in the Netherlands has a medezeggenschapsraad (MR). This is a participation council, where representatives of teachers, parents and students are consulted by the school management over matters concerning the school. The Lorentz Participation Council holds two types of rights: right of advice (adviesrecht) and right of agreement (instemmingsrecht).

'In essence the medezeggenschapsraad MR is a co-administration council (a mixture between a traditional Parent Teacher Association and a School Council). It is a requirement by Dutch law to have an MR in every school. The MR plays an important role in the communication between parents, staff and Management by taking a critical look at proposals from the Board. The MR can advise or, in some cases, approve or disapprove, before a decision is final.'

een ondersteuningsplan op, waarin zij afspraken vastleggen over de organisatie en
bekostiging van de onderwijsondersteuning. Die afspraken beslaan in ieder geval

– de basisondersteuning, die alle scholen binnen het samenwerkingsverband
bieden,
– de schoolprofielen (i.e.: 'schoolondersteuningsprofielen'), waarin scholen aangeven wat zij kunnen bieden aan basis- en
extra ondersteuning,
– de organisatie van de extra ondersteuning die bovenschools wordt georganiseerd,
– de toelating van leerlingen tot het speciaal basisonderwijs en het (voortgezet)

For example:

A special educational needs (SEN) teacher is specifically employed to work with children and young adults who need extra support or require an advanced programme of education in order to complete their learning successfully.

SEN teachers may work with individuals who are physically disabled, sensory impaired (i.e. deaf/blind), have speech and language difficulties such as dyslexia, have a mental disability such as autism, are emotionally vulnerable, have behavioural difficulties or have a combination of these disabilities. An SEN teacher may also work with gifted and talented individuals.

Passend onderwijs en schoolondersteuningsprofiel De wet passend onderwijs schrijft voor dat iedere school/vestiging in het SWV een ondersteuningsprofiel heeft. Het schoolondersteuningsprofiel (SOP) is een beschrijving van de voorzieningen die zijn getroffen voor leerlingen die extra ondersteuning nodig hebben. Aan de hand daarvan kan worden bezien of de school kan bieden wat de leerling nodig heeft en wat nog georganiseerd moet worden om in de behoeften van de leerling te voorzien.

Kinderen met een handicap of gedragsproblemen hebben recht op een passende onderwijsplek. Dat kan in het speciaal onderwijs. Of met extra begeleiding op een gewone school. Vanaf 2014 komt er een nieuw stelsel voor passend onderwijs. Dit verplicht scholen een passende onderwijsplek te bieden aan leerlingen die extra ondersteuning nodig hebben.

I don't have experience with the term myself but do have an interest in education.

The 'schoolondersteuningsprofiel' is a document in which schools are going to have to set out the types of 'educational support' that they are able to offer. It is not about their policy regarding special educational needs. With the new law (which enters into force on 1 August 2014), schools will become responsible for providing appropriate education ('passend onderwijs') for all pupils.
