une phlébite dans les viscères

I'm not entirely sure on this one, but I feel mildly confident on my interpretation of the terms. There was a point in time where I worked in the medical field for a few years. So this subject matter in question and the like crossed my path once or twice. Also, I'm basing this one off the "Encyclographie des sciences médicales. Répertoire général" in which this terms appears a few times. Hope this helps a bit in any case. Cheers
Example sentence:

"L'observation ne nous a point encore appris si les abcès qui surviennent à la suite de la phlébite dans les viscères"...

Complications with the Use of Venous Access Devices

Thrombophlebitis: Thrombophlebitis occurs when thrombosis is accompanied by inflammation. This condition is characterized by local tenderness, swelling and induration. In most cases, there will be a red line detectable above the IV site. Infusions allowed to continue after thrombophlebitis develops will slow and eventually stop, indicating progression to an obstructive thrombophlebitis. ****Various terms can be used to distinguish the type of phlebitis a patient experiences. Examples include chemical phlebitis, which usually refers to a sterile inflammation resulting from mechanical injury or the infusion of irritating solutions to the inflamed area, and septic phlebitis****, which denotes the presence of bacteria in the inflammatory process. Phlebothrombosis is a term used to describe the presence of thrombosis with an associated inflammation that is not readily apparent. Since diagnosis may be delayed, progression to thrombophlebitis is common.
Note from asker:
Thank you for your help. Like you I could not find anywhere an explanation for "viscus phlebiitis" and that is why I turned to ProZ. There is more context than what I provided. Il appears in a bulleted list of potential complications associated with the insertion of a central venous catheter. Nothing more is provided
