What is a demoted tenancy?(exactly)
A demoted tenancy is a reduced level of
tenancy. It removes a number of tenancy
rights, lowers security of tenure and makes it
easier for a landlord to seek possession or evict
a tenant if they do not improve their behaviour.
It aims to make the link clear between rights
and responsibilities as a tenant, including
good behaviour
Here is a bit more text
When we use a demoted tenancy?
A demoted tenancy is a strong warning to a
tenant that their behaviour could lose them
their home if it does not improve. We will
generally have tried to resolve their anti-social
behaviour in a number of other ways before we
reach the point of using a demoted tenancy. At
the same time, we see eviction as a last resort,
and we want to give people every opportunity
to work with us to improve their behaviour and
remain in their home if possible.
