Romanian term

pentru aceste secunde se duc razboaie

Romanian to English Other Poetry & Literature
In timpul dragostei oamenii tanjesc dupa punctul culminant, dupa ecstaz, care insa dureaza doar cateva secunde. Pentru aceste secunde se duc razboaie.

La explicaţia care însoţeşte varianta mea de traducere adaug exemplul acesta: "When it comes to achieving supreme pleasure, being in the right mind-set is half the battle. "

adami Jun 7, 2013:
there is such a thing as overinterpretation... "razboaie" se intelege in romana in sens cat se poate de propriu -- ganditi-va numai la razboiul troian, e un exemplu corect... Daca sensul e figurat, si in romana se foloseste "batalii" mult mai curand decat "razboaie" (in cazul cand, totusi, se foloseste cu sens figurat, trebuie sa existe indicii suplimentare in text, de ex. "razboaiele drogurilor"...).

Sau asa? "Wars are being fought over/for those seconds"
adami Jun 6, 2013:
gramatica...

For/over those seconds wars are waged

Sigur, merge la fel de bine si fara inversiune: Wars are waged for/over those seconds...

Si e "those", nu e corect "these" daca e anaforic, in engleza...

for the sake of these seconds there are wars ongoing

pentru aceste secunde se duc razboaie - for (the sake) of these seconds there are wars ongoing

One has to go through a battle to earn those seconds.

război here implies the figurative meaning of a hard battle to win, like a struggle in life in order to achieve something we yearn for.

Battles are fought for those seconds

I would use the term "battle".
BĂTĂLÍE, bătălii, s. f. Fig. Eforturi comune făcute în vederea îndeplinirii unei acțiuni importante (și urgente).
battle=2. to struggle in order to achieve something or arrive somewhere.
War goes well for conflicts, which is not the case here.
