: That's not really the meaning of 'commercial' here (remember that commerce doesn't have the same meaning in EN as in FR).

commercial strip-style fluorescent fixture
In this sort of context, 'commercial' doesn't mean for use in shops, it generally refers to a grade of product that is cheap enough to install hundreds of the things, yet just sufficiently robust to stand up to 24/7 usage. So a higher grade than 'cheap domestic', but a lower grade than 'medical' or 'industrial' or 'architectural', for example.
