: I don't think this refers to mooning or protests! It doesn't fit with what is said in the rest of the article and 'bundalelê' in the song I posted is just more about 'rebolando' etc at a party than literal mooning.

I've looked at the article BillinRio has posted a link to, and in this context this is what I think the phrase is suggesting, and fits with the next bit about speaking Spanish in the U.S. Your translation will of course depend on who your target audience is supposed to be, but you haven't given us any information on that.
The singer of the song (Festa no Apê) with the line 'Hoje é festa lá no meu apê, pode aparecer, vai rolar bundalelê' is called Latino, so I would guess that's the connection the author is making when talking about 'latinos' and 'bundalelê'.

The fact that the text says 'vai ter bundalele' which sounds just like in the song 'vai rolar bundalele' also makes me think the author is invoking the bundalele in the song and not the idea of mooning.

Gostaria de saber tanto o significado quanto a origem da palavra ′bundalelê′, tão comum nesses dias em que o grande hit do cantor Latino é tocado pelas rádios a torto e direito… Me parece até coisa oriunda de chanchada brasileira! Agradeço desde já!

GREEN THUMB é uma formação de origem expressiva, ou seja, aquela em que as palavras se juntam pela força que têm de evocar uma imagem. Uma pessoa que tem boa mão para plantar parece ter algo em comum com as plantas, daí se dizer que tem parte da mão clorofilada.
É interessante saber que o Francês tem uma expressão idêntica: PUCEAU VERT, “polegar verde”, com o mesmo sentido.
Agora, BUNDALELÊ, conforme informação do próprio Sr. Latino, foi inventada para rimar com “apê”, como parte da letra de uma música. Não convém levar a sério!
