German term
Außenstation
German to English
Medical
Medical (general)
Does anyone know what Außenstation is? It's listed next to hospital data&phone numbers
-ward
-departmental office
and then... Außenstation +phone number
Never heard. What's the EN term for it ( if any)?
Thanks!

Outside facility
There is really not much you can find about Aussenstation.
Outside facility is perhaps a good solution. Not too sure about this though.

: This is a nice idea, but in my opinion, you don't use this word concerning a part of a hospital, you would use it when it belongs to a firm or a bank...

Facility can be used in many contexts. Medical facilities/hospital facilities is quite common. I can attest to that since I've been living in the US for the last 15 years. But as you suggested, 'ward' is probably better here.

outside ward
Due to the fact the text is about a hospital, the word "ward" would match well. The only problem is you have already used it so it would be a repetition.
Note from asker:
yes, but my problem is understanding the word in the medial context. I am a doctor myself, but I have never heard of 'Aussenstation'. I could translate literally ( external ward), but this means nothing in En ( at least to me). |

: No, the word outstation means a survey station, a weather station or even a radio station, so it would be very confusing to use it in this context.

I would normally agree with you, but the links I gave are all related to hospitals.

Discussion
Perhaps, you just ask your client to describe what it actually is...
Sorry...
If not, I´d check with the client first to assess/confirm the very nature of this "outpost"...
