Service and department heads?

'servizio' is what's throwing me. It's used repeatedly in this Quality Manual, as in, "Servizio qualità", "Servizio Tecnico", as if it were referring to a 'team' of some sort. I'm hesitant to use that word but am equally dissatisfied with simply translating it as 'service'.

Or heads, as you say.
We've had "servizio" many times before - it means department.
"Funzione" is a tricky one, because it means different things to different organisations - it can be anything from one employee to a whole division, so I'd keep it literal.

Explanation:
in this case I translate funzione as being function = operators (machining/production cell/centre, that kind of thing),
and service as being department.
Since "servizio qualita'" may very well mean "quality assurance dept" but also customer service/warranty service or even claims department, I cannot be 100% sure without knowing the exact phrase and context. Servizio technico I'm 100% sure is "Technical support"
It would be quite helpful to know what exactly they are manufacturing...
I found it helpful in the past to reference ISO 9001 certification requirements, as it all boils down to "process control"
