I have the following paragraph in a description of a telecom operator's network: Le transport d’information nécessite la mise en forme en onde lumineuse à l’émission et le décodage des ondes lumineuses à la réception pour les remettre en forme numérique. Les fibres doivent donc être raccordées à des **baies électroniques de codage** et de décodage". Any suggestions would be much appreciated.

By the way, I don't think you need to translate "et décodage" explicitly -- the decryption function is understood in the term "encryption bay".

Asker: Thanks Salih but it sounds to me as though your suggestion is a process rather than an object (I could of course be wrong). And I haven't been able to find any hits on Google in the relevant context. Could you possibly provide me with a source to back up your suggestion? Thanks very much.
