Scout ranks
Hello everyone. I've got a list of scout ranks ("scout" as in "Boy Scouts"). Unfortunately, I have no more context. This is the list:
*Baladin
*Louveteau
*Éclaireur
*Pionnier
*Routier
Thanks in advance for your help with this term, and I'll be doubly grateful if someone can provide me with a French-English glossary of scouting terms.

The different grades are very much age related and there are differences from one country to the next. You do not say which country you are targetting you English for.
Guess it boils down to doing the legwork and seeing which best fits. Rover may be suitable for routier, although the age range of the French seems smaller.

Apart from Rover Scout which seems appropriate for Canada, maybe "Group Leader" woudl be ebst here for Routier, unless it is a badge.

Though not a specialist in the field, these are the English terms I have often heard as equivalent of "routier, louveteau" and "éclaireur" . As for "baladin" and "pionnier" I don't have any clear idea about their English equivalents.
Hope the references below will be helpful.

I suspect you will find this resource contains the answer to your question. Delightfully nostalgic though it would be (and an interesting transcultural comparison) I don't have time right now to work through the precise translation of your term.

: yes, everyone is presenting refs. But kudoz is for difficult terminology. asking others to do all the work, including the basic research, is taking things a bit far
