When no one's looking I wear horn-rimmed glasses Explanation: "Gafas de pasta" refers to the material their frames are made of. This type of frame used to be a bit like the UK National Health glasses that children wore a couple of centuries ago - everyone thought they were the ugliest type of glasses around. -------------------------------------------------- Note added at 26 mins (2012-03-20 14:06:09 GMT) -------------------------------------------------- I have a friend who is dreadfully shortsighted yet no one has ever seen her wear glasses - she only puts them on when no one can see her. That's one meaning - if the text is really referring to the plant's eyesight. The other meanings can be the plant is vain, a flirt, etc - "presumida" or very studious. -------------------------------------------------- Note added at 31 mins (2012-03-20 14:11:31 GMT) -------------------------------------------------- Sorry, I lost my concentration. I'll try to make make myself clearer: 1. If the plant only wears glasses in private, it means she's vain, a flirt, etc. 2. If the plant wears horn-rimmed glasses in private, it means she's not just a pretty face. Note: these are my interpretations. |
