So called, "hurricane clips" are one attempt to strengthen a house. By strengthening the attachment points between the roof and the main house structure, they try to help the house and roof structure hold together under the Bernoulli induced (see "How It Works" strains, caused by the hurricane force winds. They do not, however, help to stabilize the roof cladding.
