Isn't this actually Norwegian? I think he/she (a Norwegian) is trying to joke with you, i.e. if you are Swedish then you'll understand that he/she has just (jokingly) put down the Swedes by saying that they are a bit dim. Norwegian/Swedish humour... like the Irishman in jokes "there was an Englishman, Irishman and Scotsman...etc"

agree Christine Andersen : Scandinavians are not used to other people understanding them abroad, so they sometimes make earthy jokes aloud and have to review what they just said when someone does catch the meaning. It might not have been 'suitable for your mother-in-law'!!
