difficult character
unfortunately I cannot dial it and I am not able to send you the file I have。 I need to translate this proper name "GREY STAR" but cannot use “银星” and I personally don't want to use "灰".
So I have found this character from one lecture I attended at university, it is one character only made from 白+黑 read as "hui" and meaning of course grey. I want to know more about it, why can't I write it down with the computer? Can you tell me more about it? Pls help me, 多谢!

黑烟明星
Can you translate it into 黑烟明星? This is the same as Smoky Star, of which, Grey's Synonym is also Smoky. Depending on your entire material though. ***明星 means bright star, you can delete the 明 to get the "star", if you want.

THANKS BUT YOUR SUGGESTION SEEMS TOO LONG FOR ME |

银灰
If you insist on ruling out 灰 then, I'd support your choice of 银灰. However, 彗星 is out for it is already used for "comet。" And there is no reason to introduce 贵星 to complicate the celestial glossary
Some colleagues have a good glossary/dictionary? Maybe there is an established translation.

晦
晦, 隐晦不明;模糊不清。dark, gloomy.
'grey star' does not suggest 'silver' so '银灰’ is not right. ‘慧’ is the wrong word as it means 'bright'. I don't know the context of the file but '晦’ as a Chinese word means exactly between 白 and 黑。

THIS IS A GREAT SUGGESTION BUT ACTUALLY HAS A LET'S SAY "NOT PLEASANT" CONNOTATION AND MIGHT NOT FIT A COMPANY NAME, THANKS YOU ANYWAY |
Discussion
"晦" means neither bright nor dark. It's in between.
"晦星" might be what you're looking for.

I guess you'll have to go with another choice. One possibility is to do a 音译: 格蕾斯达 or a mixed sound/meaning translation: 格蕾星. Not every name has to be a poetic masterpiece!
