Beca-trabajo

Spanish to English Other Business/Commerce (general) Young Adult literature
A grant that allows you to work and study. Is there a similiar term in English? I thought that it might be similar to a scholarship, but I know that's more an American English term, I need something for UK/Ireland.

The second part may (strangely but understandably) refer to a teaching (or other) internship that carries no stipend. The student pays no tuition, but doesn't receive a salary or stipend either. There are lots of complaints about teaching internships as some entail teaching an entire course-something the school would otherwise be paying a professor to do. On the other hand, the tuition is free.
