French term

Alimentation Europe - TEF

French to English Tech/Engineering Electronics / Elect Eng Epi-fluorescence microscope light source power supply
These are the references of power supplies for a LED microscope light source (the "Module xxxxx"):

Designations Reférences
Module xxxxx 400 000
Alimentation Europe - TEF 400 105
Alimentation UK – TG 400 110
Alimentation USA – TB 400 115
Alimentation Australie – TI 400 120
Alimentation Suisse – TJ 400 125

Any info on the acronyms? Or are they just part of the reference?

Thanks Thanks for your help all of you. My inclination, like Chris's, is to treat them just as reference codes and keep them as such. Nikki, thanks for yours - not the answer maybe but another multi-language website to add to my stocK.

Fishiness would have applied on Friday....
Nikki Scott-Despaigne Apr 3, 2011:
Chris You may well be right Chris about the fishiness of the reference. In any evet, there is quite a high likelihood that the acronyms are universal.

Just noted also that the icnreases are by increments of 5 : 110, 115, 120, 125...

I agree with CC. Pretty sure these are reference numbers and nothing else, although what the letters EF, G, B, I, or J may indicate is anybody's guess.
chris collister Apr 3, 2011:
I don't think you should set too much store by these designations. Even where the voltages differ (eg. USA), modern switched mode power supplies can cope with either 110VAC or 240VAC. What is different, however, is the plug type, and I suspect that this may be what differentiates these modules if they are the plug-in type. I would guess these are just internal designations.
I think Nikki's ref. may be a red herring, as it refers to internal parameter names.

TEF : temps expiratoire forcé

Based on this source, perhaps "T" in each acronym is "time"?

TEF

I think you're right in that it is part of the reference number. If it were a type of socket or power supply, this would be standard terminology and would be found referred to in other sources which it isn't!

Model TB-4 is a bin and power supply combination for plug-in modules. It can house twelve single-width modular instruments or a mixture of other sizes equivalent to twelve singles. Units that can be installed include BNC's modular digital delay generators, trigger pulse amplifiers, pulse generators, programming interfaces and the instruments of other companies that are designed to NIM standards.
