English term or phrase: out of round
The complete term is "out of round rings." I can't fully sense what it may mean.

It's the description of a problem occurring the on the ring. The document I'm translating is a manual of an electrical motor. There're various problems "out of round rings" is one of them.

A little explanation on the how the system works: A brush slides over the slip ring and transfer the energy to the rotor. During this process various problems occur, this is one of them. I can't get sure, but I think it refers to the condition where the brush exceeds the surface of the ring, hence "out of".

The manual says this type of problem should be corrected by machining the ring.

Thanks for your help
