Engine Drag Torque Reduction (MSR) If the vehicle is driven in low gear when coasting down hill, or if there is a sudden shift to a lower gear, the wheels may be slowed down by the engine braking effect to rapidly. This could result in an unstable situation. If the front wheels are turning faster than the rear wheels the DSC III control unit signals the DME via the CAN bus to raise the engine torque. DME cancels fuel cut-off and allows the engine speed to increase, this allows the drive wheels to accelerate to match the speed of the non-driven wheels.
