Music / Type of disco
Spanish term or phrase: discotecas maquineras
From a video script (Spain). For a UK audience.

Era el rey de la pista en **discotecas maquineras**

The music they played in these clubs/discos was 'maquina' or 'mákina'. Here's some info about it.

http://es.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mákina

I presume there is no equivalent in English? It's not electro which I originally thought, as I came across 'electro' in a list that include 'maquina' and other music styles. And 'machine music' does not Google well and I've never heard of it either.

techno discos
Explanation:
I had a look at the description and then referred it to the type of music. I think this is my best suggestion. There are loads of web references to techo discos too.

Thanks, Kittilina - as 'Makina' would mean nothing to the average UK person, and I can´t put a long description into this video script, I spoke to the client and we decided that 'techno' was the best bet in ths instance :)

sorry, not hardcore exactly as there are instruments guitars etc involved here. maybe Hardcore-derived or hardcore-sampled since I understand samples are probably taken of this in Makina?
