No es que vaya de oportunista... :-)
Para mí, en este caso debe mantenerse "software" ya que no se está hablando de un programa en concreto sino de un conjunto de programas (aunque "en el campo de [la producción de] / [los] programas..." tampoco queda mal). Es una regla subjetiva pero creo que bastante generalizada.
Por otro lado, si nos referimos a una empresa cuya actividad está basada en Internet, sustituir "en línea" por "en la red" tampoco le haría daño, pero tendría que quedar bien en el contexto.
