Context: device for the assisted locking and unlocking of an adjustable steering column.

“Selon une autre variante, les spires d’extrémité dudit ressort se raccordent aux pattes de liaison via des branches de support s’étendant de façon sensiblement perpendiculaire à l’axe central”

My translation :

According to another alternative, the end coils of said spring are connected to the connecting lugs via des branches de support extending substantially perpendicular to the central spindle.

Any idea what “branche de support” might be in English?
