Hungarian term

"megvezette"

Hungarian to English Medical Law (general)
Szerintetek mi erre a legtalálóbb angol kifejezés?

Az Egészségügyi Világszervezet megvezette a világot, amikor az enyhe járványt okozó vírust az új spanyolnáthának kiáltotta ki.

lead the world to believe/deceived the public

Több megoldás lehetséges:

the WHO lead the public/world to believe.../deceived the public on the the H1N1 flu "pandemic” facts - ez nyilván nem a fenti mondat fordítása, módosítani kell

http://www.healthychild.com/healthy-child-blog/deadly-swine-...

The recent rash of fear-based media alerts may lead us to believe that half the people in the U.S. will get very sick from the bizarre and deadly swine flu. Government officials are estimating, or rather GUESSING, that huge numbers of people may become infected or die. Then after making these big scary headlines, they say it’s not a prediction, but merely a possibility.

"didn't kill everyone like alarmist media commentary led us to believe it would"

Másutt így fordul elő:

deceived the public on the the H1N1 flu "pandemic” facts

They will also learn how the CDC (and our entire public health system) is intentionally deceiving the public.

"Bernays described the public as a 'herd that needed to be led"

A "mislead the public" (DoraKK megoldása) is jó.

Kiegészítés: a kérdéses mondatban múlt időben szerepel az ige, tehát: "led the public to believe/deceived the public"
Peer comment(s):

agree Ildiko Santana : Szerintem ez még jobb, mint a sima "mislead", ami tkp. csak "félrevezet". A "lead to believe" a "megvezet" variánshoz hasonlóan kissé cirkalmasabb megfogalmazás.
