French term

Pas de signe d'ÉVOLUTIVITÉ coronarienne

French to English Medical Medical: Cardiology Geriatric cardiopathology
Voici le contexte: "...une cardiopathie ischémique avec une fraction d'éjection à 50%, pas de signe d'évolutivité coronarienne." [Fin du paragraphe.] Not a really good EF, by the way. Patient is 71, with 10 years of coronary disease history.

Two opposite possibilities: 1) "not a sign of coronary upgradability (ability to progress/get well)." (Various sources, incl. PROZ term search.) 2) "not a sign of coronary instability." (Delamare Fr>An/Eng>Fre Dict. Med Terms 2003, by extrapolation.)

I refuse to write down "evolutivity" for pay -- utterly meaningless English, like translators of the Vulgate transcribing Hebrew and Aramaic words into Latin. The computer term is too glitchy and may be the reverse of what this little throw-away line might really mean.

Thanks! Loquamur

no sign(s) of progressive coronary disease

pas de signe de = no sign(s) of

"not a sign of" would be "pas UN signe de"

Here "évolutivité" definitely means changes for the worse rather than improvement.
Note from asker:
Thank you so much, SJLD. Yes, my wording was off (text still in draft mode). However the confusion was not over "pas de" but over "évolutivité," and you helped a great deal. All doctors use lang. about heart disease, cancers, etc., like "progressing" rather than "worsening"--something quite WRONG with that. Hence my worry about such an upbeat word in such a sad context.

Many thx, Carmen. Might be just the ticket. However, no such extensive detail in the source to compare with Utah or other sites, or even Wikiped. All just summary material. Need to ruminate till morning.
