hot water cylinder Explanation: Is simply a hot water cylinder for maitaining a constant temeprature of hot water. It is distinguishable from a 'chauffe-eau' which ,as its name implies contains the heat source, whereas a 'ballon tampon' usually has its heat provided from outside as in e.g. a boiler. -------------------------------------------------- Note added at 1 hr (2009-12-13 15:39:07 GMT) -------------------------------------------------- sorry for the typos: 'maintaining a constant temperature.'
