Russian term

рейд

Russian to English Other Ships, Sailing, Maritime
I need the English word to match this Ozhegov definition...Raid doesn't work because it also means something else.

Thanks!

РЕЙД 1, Ца, м. Водное пространство (у морского берега), удобное для стоянки судов. Внешний р. (на подходах к порту). Внутренний р. (внутри порта). Стоять на рейде
Proposed translations (English)
4 harbor
4 +3 road(stead)
3 +1 roadstead

Discussion

Sergei Tumanov Aug 28, 2009:
стоять на рейде = to stay to lay on roads
рейд = roads or roadsted
внутренний рейд = can be 'inner harbour' or 'space near port entrance'

If I get any, all my points will go to you(name the currency). Point is I understand what I suggest, you don't.

Thanks!This is a place less enclosed than a harbor where ships may ride at anchor. And the French do it. As do the Americans. And others, too, not only RAdm Yelagin.
agree Sergei Tumanov : не могут они to RIDE at anchor/ При всем уважении :0)

Спасибо. Швартуемся у стенки или к борту судна, становимся на бочку, бросаем якорь на рейде, дрейфуем. Мож, я что уже забыл?
