Portuguese term

salão

Non-PRO Portuguese to English Other Cooking / Culinary Restaurant Menu
«salão» is what the menu indicates concerning the place in a restaurant where you have a meal.
In American English, what do you usually call it?

Room? Dining room? Saloon?

Thank you in advance!

Thanks Tobias, have a great night
neutral Zoe Perry : In American English, dining hall has connotations of institutional cafeterias, such as university canteens or at summer camps (as referenced above) where you serve yourself from a buffet, and not a restaurant, particularly not a nice restaurant

NOt knowing the exact location or what type of restaurant it is, that is why I have two options, hall and area. I worked in restaurants to get through college and we would say 'dining area or hall' depending what type of restaurant it is. Have a good one!
neutral Amy Duncan (X) : Agree with Zoe.

That's why I have two options "HALL" and "AREA" we don't know anything about the restaurant therefore we can not assume it's a fancy restaurant or a 'banquet hall or other hall". Have a great day!
