Bostadsventil är inte en förkortning utan en tekniskdetalj. jag vet inte exakt och kan inte kontrollera det nu. Men jag gissar på luftventil.
It's evidently not home ventilation by the sound of it.

Nowadays these systems tend to be called "air exchangers" in the US and Canada. Ventilation systems are required in new houses built in some regions there because they are often so tightly insulated as to be virtually airtight.

But "air exchanger" is a more modern term and would not be suitable for the historical context of your sentence.

One familiar part of these systems in Swedish homes is the typical round vent in the bathroom.

If the [end] client is the same as the owner of that website, I suspect it's a typo and they meant to say ...ventilationen.

In that case, I'd suggest "residential mechanical ventilation system". Plenty of Google hits for this phrase.
