Quite correct, deflection is a noun, no doubt about that. A clearer look will show that that is not my proposal.

This was difficult...I have used all the other answers in other parts of the translation but this was the first time the author used flectada so I went with something different. I'm pretty sure bent or subjected to flexural moment would have worked equally well. "
