It's not clear to me how these folks are intending to pay.

Thank you all for your help. The answers are similar, but per incuriam's (thanks) endorsers (thanks) seem to suggest that his/her wording is the most widely used. I now see that this question concerned a fairly straightforward matter, but my recent brush with the law has shaken my confidence. Capitalisation of reserves seems to me to be an excellent way of paying for things so I will almost certainly try it out in the New Year to cover a few capital goods and consumables currently lacking or in short supply in my tower.
