cone penetrometer
The cone penetrometer method for obtaining samples requires a separate penetrometer push for each sample. This process, while effective, is costly. A single sample at a shallow depth can cost $1,000. The cost increases linearly for samples at greater and greater depths. The process of pushing and removing the cone penetrometer is also time consuming.
Hope this helps.
