German term

Bei allen Rohrleitungen den Leitungsquerschnitt nicht reduzieren

German to English Tech/Engineering Mechanics / Mech Engineering Gear unit cooling system
This is operating instructions for gear units and their accessories. This sentence is referring to the installation procedure for the mechanical connection of an oil-water cooling unit. It is a one phrase in a listing of steps for installation of this cooling unit. The steps preceding it are: Den Ölkreislauf mit den Anschlüssen am Getriebe verbinden. (Connect the oil circulation to the connections on the gear unit.) Ein- und Auslauf nicht vertauschen. (Do not confuse inlet and outlet.) Wasseranschlüsse mit dem Kühlwasser verbinden. (Connect the water connections to the cooling water.) Followed by "Bei allen Rohrleitungen den Leitungsquerschnitt nicht reduzieren." Any suggestions?

Do not reduce the inner diameter of any pipes.

That's what I would say.

neutral Rolf Buesken (X) : I would include 'cross section' because it can be reduced by flatening a pipe.

I take your point but think this is unlikely here.

do not reduce/diminish the pipes' conduit cross-sections

dict.cc hat hier ein ganz komplexes Angebot
Peer comment(s):

neutral Rolf Buesken (X) : Re Cross section: I think it does matter because pipe bending is often part of this type of work, and it is easy to flatten a pipe during bending. (I have actually worked in engineering for many years).
