Malay term

LINGKARAN DALAM KAWASAN

Malay to English Social Sciences Business/Commerce (general)
Sorry, there is no full sentence. It is a location:
LINGKARAN DALAM KAWASAN (Name of the town). The article is about the roadwork that is scheduled to be done.

My question is: What exactly is LINGKARAN? It's not a roundabout, is it?

Thanks

or better: Inner ring road in the area of (name of town)
Peer comment(s):

agree Archipelago (X) : "Ring road" would be "jalan lingakaran" -- so your answer would be correct if the context supports it.

4 KudoZ points awarded for this answer. Comment: "Thank you everyone for your suggestions, I wish Proz would allow me to reward points to multiple aswerer, because I also like Yam2u answer! But since in Malaysia, people are more familiar with Ring road, I'll go with Jo's answer. Yes, it is about road, a list of roads to be upgraded."

A BELT IN THE (Name of the town) REGION/DISTRICT

that is how i would translate it.

a roadway encircling a town is usually called a "belt" or "beltway".

no, it's not a roundabout.
Peer comment(s):

agree Archipelago (X) : But is it a road (jalan lingkaran) or the surrounding area. Further context is necessary.

i think it refers to the actual area being marked/cleared for the roadway. or beltway, as it's called in the US or "ring road" (per jo bennet) if asker prefers the british term instead.

the location(s) surrounding the area of XXX

If the context is similar to the following (from a web page):-

"Terletak pada lokasi lingkaran dalam kawasan Grande Family Estate" which would be "Situated in the location(s) surrounding the area of XXX".

It is always best to give a full sentence (or more) as the context if possible.
