حفتهم تعني أنها أحاطت بهم بحشود كبيرة ذلك أن الفعل حف يعني استدار حول الشيء و حدق به أي اجتمع حوله بأعداد كبيرة لذلك أظن أن كلمة congregate توحي بالمعنى.
و يمكن القول لزيادة التوضيح:
