Ενστικτωδώς έχω την εντύπωση πως το δεύτερο εννοεί πως κάτι παύει να είναι παράνομο ενώ το πρώτο πως ενώ μπορεί να είναι ακόμα παράνομο σταματά να υπάρχει ποινή για αυτό/δε διώκεται ποινικά. Ισχύει; Αν ναι, τότε αποποινικοποίηση δεν θα πρέπει να είναι το depenalization;
Έχω να αποδώσω και τα δύο στην ίδια πρόταση και είναι σημαντικό αν υπαρχει διαφορειτκή απόδοση για το καθένα να τις δώσω και τις δύο.

When deciding between easy and pro, err on the side of pro. Most questions will be pro.
* Note: non-member askers are not given the option of entering 'pro' questions; the only way for their questions to be classified as 'pro' is for a ProZ.com member or members to re-classify it.

Ωστόσο μπορείς να χρησιμοποιήσεις το «νομιμοποίηση/άρση των κυρώσεων» για το ένα και το «αποποινικοποίηση» για το άλλο:
depenalization = μείωση/άρση των κυρώσεων/ποινών
decriminalization = αποποινικοποίηση, δηλαδή να πάψει να θεωρείται ποινικώς κολάσιμη πράξη/έγκλημα.
