Explanation:
Creo que screen out combina la denotación de "detección", "examen" o "identificación", con la de "erradicar", "expurgar", "eliminar".

Para ser honesta, hay un término que me gusta para estos contextos y es "desmalezar", referido a rebuscar y arrancar elementos no deseados en el pensamiento, en un campo teórico, en un sistema, etc.
Como imagen es muy eficaz porque transmite rapidamente la idea. Pero fijate si te va. De otro modo, pondr´'ia "detectar y erradicar".
