French term
spectrage
French to English
Marketing
Cosmetics, Beauty
On a glorious, glorious ppt doc with very little context :-(
Presentation on new make-up removal products in a supermarket.
The slide says:
Box au spectrage centre sur les produits piliers
Then shows four products with the corresponding number of sales units (UVC)
And finally the market availability date.
And that's it!
On the next slide, it reads:
Pour (name of store), les barquettes 36 UVC sur les must-have
Spectrage 36 UVC
Any ideas would be more than welcome!
Thanks in advance

Very few instances of “spectrage”…only 26. The French instances of “spectrage” relate to bricklaying:

Masons using Bricky - the benefits
- Increases productivity - up to 300%
- Eliminates mortar waste - traditionally 40% was wasted
- Creates no mess - no mortar falls into cavities
- Ensures precise joint spacing - standard 10mm (3/8")
- Automatically points joints to perfection - 6mm recess
- Assures joints are completely filled with mortar - no gaps
- Requires no follow-up raking out, acid cleaning etc.
So, perhaps "spectrage", above, = gap
But in your context it seems to mean "position"..

Local authorities are responsible for establishing waste disposal and recycling infrastructure. This is funded by a levy on individuals or companies who introduce finished products to the market, calculated on the number of sales unit packages (Unité de Vente Consommateur - U.C.V.) involved. Every manufacturer, importer or distributor of products destined either for households, cafés, hotels and restaurants (in French, "Collectivités, Hotels, Restaurants" or CHR) must:

The description sounds like a 'showcase' of the four main products on a display stand. The use of the word in Liz's link on bricklaying makes me think of 'see-through' or 'visible'.
3 hrs
free sample/preview/gift set/box (with purchase)
just wondering if this refers to those boxes filled with little samples or few items that you can buy for less of the cumulative price or get for free when you spend $30 or so on a specific cosmetic line.

what do you mean by assortment? of samples? for what reason? i think you ignored our answers and didn't really try to make much sense.

Note from asker:
Wow! Who am I to question the client's answer? They say it means an assortment - which makes sense since the texts talks about UVC - or sales units - so the spectrage means an assortment of 36 products, eg 12 of one, 12 of another, and so on. I DID try to make sense of the answers provided, and I DID thank everyone sincerely for their time, but none of the answers showed spectrage used specifically in a product sales context with convincing refs. This is why I felt it safest to ask the client. I really don't see where the problem is. |
