This is on an invoice for a pathology lab. It was conducted on a tumoral lesion. I know that anatomie pathologique is simply pathology, but I'm not quite sure what kind of test/exam this is. Thanks in advance!

I wonder if "anatomo-" may refer to gross pathology exam as opposed to cytology/histopathology?

I appreciate so much help. Here is what I find confusing: On the invoice itself, the procedure code used is P220. P is the code for "Actes anatomo-cyto-pathologie"; however, I found the following for P 220 "Diagnostic histopathologique, par inclusion et coupe d’une pièce opératoire complexe ou de prélèvements nécessitant l’application d’un protocole complexe validé". On the reminder notice accompanying the invoice (which has not yet been paid), the term used is "examen anatomo-cyto-pathologique"; henceforth, my confusion......

I don't know what the English term is - and Trudy may be spot on, but here is the definition of what the technique is - if it helps!

"Anatomo-cyto-pathologie : examen au microscope de cellules (cytologie) ou de tissus (histologie) de l’organisme. Les médecins parlent parfois « d’anapath ».

La cytologie et l'histologie sont les deux techniques de l'examen anatomo-cyto-pathologique. L’histologie établit de façon sûre le diagnostic de cancer. De plus, cet examen permet de déterminer le type et le stade du cancer dont il s’agit."
