: I would say that would apply to a piece of furniture or something concrete like that, but not to a person. / Fair enough, but that's not really the meaning of no-nonsense; it means rather "won't tolerate any misbehaviour (etc.) in others"

: To the extent that this has any similarity (I don't know, has it?) to the EN word 'pragmatic' , I would say that doesn't really convey the full meaning of 'no-nonsense'
