French term

établissement public, scientifique et technique (in context)

French to English Bus/Financial Other
Not enough space to post the complete phrase, which is :***établissement public, scientifique et technique à caractère industriel et commercial***. (a "scientific & technical EPIC" ....). It is a common enough title (the CNRS is one), and is used to describe the CNES in the document I am translating, but I'm unaware of any accepted translation.
Apart from "public scientific and technical utility company", which seems less than accurate, I am stuck for a (reasonably) short translation.
Yes, I HAVE looked in the glossary - nothing comes close enough.
Any assistance will be gratefully received ...

I was finally able to check with my client, whose approved term seems as good as any :
"a scientific and technical public utility company".
Thanks again to Matthew, but I will close without grading

scientific and technically-based public company

Hello,

The problem is getting all three adjectives in there without the sentence sounding horribly awkward in English.

I've also seen "scientific and technical company", but not "scientific and technical public company."

I hope this helps.

Note from asker:
Thank you Matthew - you are quite right - problem is how to fit all three adjectives into a brief sentence without the result sounding clumsy. Your suggestion is certainly a big step in the right direction. I'm wondering if it's also possible to allude to the industrial aspect without running off the page ...
